Support Coordination

Amber

Amber Barrow

Hello Everyone!

My name is Amber and I am the Support Coordination lead at Chosen Family. It’s a pleasure to meet you all and I thought Id tell you just a little about myself.

I am not your usual Support Coordinator and I love to colour outside the lines tailoring supports to individuals and seeing people thrive at life.

Music flows through my veins and enjoy nothing better that live music, European death metal, operas, music theatre, dancing and cooking and you can usually find me at music festivals and concerts getting my groove on.

I have tattoo’s, love cars and motorbikes, not much of a sports fan but can appreciate a good tennis match or rugby game and I love colour in every aspect of my life.

I have a real passion for community and supporting individuals to live their best lives possible. I am a fierce ally of the LGBTIAQ+ community, enjoy learning and appreciating indigenous cultures across the globe and I can speak a few languages enough to get by during my travels.

I have worked in the community services and disability sectors for over 17 years now from developing ASD specific training packages for youth to gain a qualification before leaving Secondary School, to being a Local Area Coordinator, Support Coordinator and Specialist Support Coordinator in the NDIS field.

My motto in life is nothing is unachievable just need to find the right way to get there and that’s the fun part.

On behalf of myself and the Support Coordination team, we all look forward to being able to work with you here at Chosen Family where everyone is seen, heard and respected.

Joshua Halligan

Hi all! My names Joshua. Brand new Support Coordinator jumping into the Chosen Family team.

Little bit about me I have constantly lived abroad due to family and have bounced between Australia and Canada on numerous occasions and now calling Sydney home.

I have a big heart for kids and teens and have work extensively in areas such as Youth Work, Child Protection and school programs.

Prior to moving to Sydney my family and I are kinship carers and have been since 2022. I moved into the Support Coordination space to help make a bigger impact on the community and aid those who may or may not have a support network readily available to them.

I pride myself on rapport I hold with my clients and team and strive to make my work as fun as possible and to make my clients enjoy the time they have with me.

Outside of work I’m your typical gym junkie, I gym 6x a week and often do so with my partner or mates.

I am a big video game nerd and love all things JRPG and RPG so please feel free to chat about those as I could easily chat for hours about video games. If I can say so I am a mad cook, love to experiment and try new ingredients, cuisines, and cooking styles. Unfortunately they don’t always fit into my daily macros but hey if it tastes good then go for it.

Jason Cottrell

Howdy howdy howdy!

My name’s Jason, and I’m an outgoing adventurer with a knack for turning every moment into a story worth telling. I start every day with positivity, sharing good morning messages with all the lives I touch on Snapchat.

Equal parts curious, upbeat, and a little clumsy, I embrace life’s twists and turns with a big smile and boundless enthusiasm.

Growing up in a family filled with unique challenges and neurodiversity, I’ve developed deep empathy, adaptability, and a strong understanding of diverse needs. From day one, I’ve supported my nephews: Jacob (born at 25 weeks) with melanotic bone disease, retinopathy, autism, elongated shoulder muscles, no heat perception, and no fright reflex; Marcus (born at 32 weeks) with high-functioning autism; and I’ve grown up alongside siblings with level 5 intellectual impairment and ADHD. Their strength has inspired me to dedicate myself to helping others thrive.

Outside of work, life is full of joy and adventure with my dog by my side and my new fiancé (Luke), who keeps me grounded and inspired.

Now coming into my new role as a support coordinator, I bring compassion, resourcefulness, and personal experience to guide individuals and families through challenges, celebrating every success along the way.
